Catherine Peterson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist at Brickel and Associates, LLC, in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Catherine graduated from Boston College School of Social Work in 1997.
Catherine is passionate about helping clients find the power within themselves to overcome issues of addiction, anxiety, depression, grief, dysfunctional relationships, trauma, postpartum depression and anxiety, PTSD, and other mood disorders. In addition, Catherine has worked extensively with Veterans and family members, giving her a deep understanding of the stressors unique to the military community.
Catherine provides a warm, understanding and compassionate therapeutic environment. Through a strengths-based approach she uses a wide variety of techniques from her therapeutic toolbox, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and meditation to help individuals (adolescents and adults), couples, and families gain insight and make positive changes in their lives. She teaches her clients new skills and techniques that they can use to maintain their sense of wellbeing long after they leave therapy.
Catherine is committed to professional education and is always working to remain current in the field. Her most recent accomplishments was were the completion of The Ferentz Institute’s Trauma Certificate Program and the Postpartum Stress Center Post-Graduate Training Program.
