Emily Sanders is a Licensed Professional Counselor and therapist at Brickel and Associates, LLC, in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.
Emily graduated from Loyola University in Maryland in 2009. She believes strongly in healing and recovery for all individuals, couples, and families struggling with mental health and relational issues. Emily approaches therapy with hope, compassion, and creativity to empower clients to access their personal strengths.
She has vast experience working with clients using eating disordered and self-harming behaviors as they attempt to manage their trauma. Emily also has a strong background and experience in working with clients in the LGBTQ+ community. Emily has worked in various levels of therapeutic care, including residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient. Emily utilizes an eclectic approach in providing therapy in order to meet the unique needs of each client, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), expressive therapy techniques, and overall interpersonal process.
Through creating a safe and secure therapeutic relationship, Emily supports clients in creating meaningful and lasting change to overcome trauma, addiction, eating disorder behaviors, self-harm, anxiety, and depression.
