Masters Level Supervisee in Social Work

Maddison Pezzelle HeadshotMaddison Pezzelle, MSSW, is a Supervisee in Social Work at Brickel and Associates, LLC, In Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia. She is supervised by Christina Tosto, LCSW.

Maddison believes that therapy is a collaborative process where healing begins with safe and authentic relationships that allow for curiosity, humor, and non-judgmental exploration of thoughts and feelings. She understands the effect of trauma across the lifespan and pays particular attention to the impact of trauma on the self and interpersonal relationships. She works with clients to create an authentic space where they can explore their emotions safely, gain access to their insight and resilience, and interact with themselves and the world more compassionately.

Maddison’s experience working in inpatient trauma treatment settings has led to her approach to care. She is a trauma-informed, strengths-based therapist who utilizes a non-judgmental, psychodynamic approach that includes attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy, elements of CBT, DBT, and paced psychoeducation. She has worked with people experiencing symptoms of PTSD, CPTSD, and Dissociative Disorders, including suicidality, self-harm, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and mood disorders. Maddison is excited to expand her work with couples as well.

Maddison graduated from Columbia University School of Social Work with her Masters of Science in Social work in 2019. She considers herself a lifetime learner, and is under the supervision of Christina Tosto, LCSW for licensure, and consults regularly with both the Clinical Director, Robyn Brickel, M.A., LMFT and Christina in order to increase her depth of knowledge and attain licensure at the LCSW level.
