Individual Therapy
Therapy for Adults
Therapy for Older Adolescents (Ages 15+)
At Brickel and Associates, individual therapy is grounded in trauma-informed, relational, and nervous-system–aware care.
We work with adults and adolescents ages 15 and older, always viewing each person within the context of a systems lens. Starting with safety first, we work with clients to strengthen their already resilient foundation and increase understanding and coping, as healing occurs.
We work with those who are seeking support for healing trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, identity exploration, life transitions – including menopause, the postpartum period and fertility, and emotional overwhelm.
We understand that symptoms often develop as adaptive responses to lived experiences. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?” we ask, “What happened to you—and how has your nervous system learned to cope?
Our Approach to Individual Trauma Therapy
Our clinicians integrate bottom-up approaches that support healing beyond talk therapy alone. Treatment may include:
- EMDR and other trauma-processing modalities
- Sensorimotor and somatic-based therapy
- Attachment-focused and relational work
- Art, music, and experiential approaches
- Mindfulness, grounding, and regulation skills
Therapy is collaborative and paced to your readiness. We prioritize safety and stabilization, consent, and choice at every stage of treatment.
Specific to Individual Therapy for Adolescents (15+)
Adolescence is a critical developmental period, often shaped by identity formation, academic and social pressures, family dynamics, and exposure to stress or trauma. Our therapists support teens, using a family systems lens, in developing emotional regulation, self-understanding, and resilience—while also honoring their growing autonomy.
When working with adolescents, we also work with parents or caregivers to assist in the family dynamics at home. We maintain appropriate collaboration regularly and view the teen within their broader family system.
LGBTQIA+ Affirming Individual Therapy
Brickel and Associates provides LGBTQIA+ affirming individual therapy grounded in trauma-informed allyship. We recognize the impact of minority stress, identity-based trauma, and systemic oppression, and we offer care that honors each client’s identity with respect, safety, and dignity. Our therapists engage in ongoing learning and accountability to ensure therapy is inclusive, ethical, and affirming.
We provide affirming care for LGBTQIA+ adults and adolescents, including support around:
- Sexual orientation and gender identity exploration
- Minority stress and identity-based trauma
- Family dynamics and coming out experiences
- Shame, anxiety, depression, and self-trust
Your identity is never treated as a problem to be fixed. Therapy is a space where all parts of you are welcome.
